Looking back at 2022

Not the year I ordered

The past year hasn't been kind, and I'm looking forward to a more enjoyable one. I'll stick to the positive here so I can keep moving steadily onward. Thanks to everyone who has been there for me 🤗.

I kept journaling work, school and personal life, the same as I did for 2021. For my sanity and everyone else’s, here is the short version.

Work

We steadily continued to improve our product. The most noteworthy piece was the overhaul of the entire routing for the Control Panel, which made it exceptionally fast. The addons and boilerplates sections, the project overview, mirrors and metrics were all reworked along the way. We also added dark mode 🤣.

Beyond that: a long list of smaller improvements across the board, a lot of resolved issues, and a handful of internal tools that make our own lives easier.

Study

2021 was a straining and busy year of studying. In 2022 I took a break, mostly because of everything else that was going on. I also expected more from my school, and corona did nothing to improve the experience.

That did not stop the learning. I worked through several classes on Udemy, MIT’s OpenCourseWare and Harvard’s CS50. I’m more convinced than ever that this is the future of learning rather than the classical route 🤷‍♂️

Personal

Privately, 2022 was horrendous. I had to deal with an immense loss and with existential doubts about my studies. What came out of it was travel, and a lot of it: Spain, Hungary, Germany, France, Sweden, Denmark, Portugal, Cuba and Egypt. Plenty of concerts and festivals with friends, too.

Looking forward

Yeah. Looking forward to 2023. That’s about the gist of it (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻.
