Looking back at 2025

A year spent in the same stack
2025 was a quiet year, and after the last few I'll happily take quiet. The monthly writing rhythm held, which I'm pleased about. Reading the list back, though, it's obvious I had one topic stuck in my head for twelve months straight.
Auth, payments, emails, server actions, styling, linting, type-safe APIs, analytics, documentation. Written out like that it looks deliberate, as if I’d sat down in January and drawn up a curriculum. I didn’t. Each month I wrote about whatever I happened to be wrestling with, and it turns out I spent the whole year wrestling with the same application.

What I’d change
Two of those are the odd ones out. The agents piece and the frameworks piece are me speculating about where things are heading, and they’re the two I’m least happy with. Predictions age badly and I have no particular advantage at making them.
So for 2026: fewer forecasts, more write-ups of things I’ve actually installed, run and broken.
